Yorkshire Water has taken delivery of ten Nissan eNV200 electric vans – its first electric vans – and has committed to buy 40 more of the vehicles by 2020.
Supplied by Bristol Street Motors, the first arrivals are part of the water provider’s goal to make 20% of its fleet electric by 2020.
The vehicles have a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge, and will support Leeds City Council’s clean air zone proposals.
Yorkshire Water is the first water company to achieve ‘Go Ultra Low’ fleet accreditation, a government and industry campaign to promote the benefits of electric vehicles.
Currently, Yorkshire Water generates 12% of its own electricity from renewable sources such as anaerobic digestion.
