Cenex launches fleet carbon reduction tool at LCV2010

Emissions
Cenex launched a simulation tool at the LCV 2010 event, aimed at helping fleet operators to understand the impact of introducing low carbon vehicles into their existing fleets.
The UK's centre of excellence for low carbon vehicle technologies also introduced an associated free 50-page guide, which includes four case studies looking at low carbon vehicles working in fleets. Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex, explains that the tool enables accurate estimation of the carbon reduction performance of different transport fuels. It provides whole-life cost and emissions predictions for each fleet option, he says, to help identify their best low carbon technology option. He also states that it should help fleet operators to cut the need for trialling options in the field. "Fleet operators face significant challenges in responding to the need to lower carbon emissions and to reduce the energy use of their vehicles," says Evans. "We aim to help managers and operators meet these challenges through informed decisions on the best way to reduce carbon in their vehicle fleet."
