The control unit for the steered trailing axle may crack, due to a warped fixing bracket, and allow ingress of moisture.This may cause a short circuit. Normally a yellow fault message will appear and the system will default to safe, passive steering mode. However it is possible the defect may have an adverse affect on the performance of the axle while the vehicle is in motion. On affected vehicles, replace the control unit bracket and, if necessary, the control unit.

Volvo FH/FM

The front suspension road spring eye mounting bolts may not have been torqued to the correct specification. During operation it is possible that the spring eye mounting bolts could work loose and unwind. This could result in the movement of the axle which could compromise the directional control of the vehicle. However, the driver should become aware of the issue by noise or found by the maintenance staff during routine maintenance. Recall all affected vehicles to re-torque the mounting bolts.

Renault Trafic van

The front axle wishbone mounting nuts may not have been tightened to the correct specification. The driver may experience noise from the front axle or find the steering becomes vague. The double seat behind centre emergency door has an unsatisfactory mounting at side wall. If it becomes loose, it breaks away, which will cause the seat to drop and the hand rail, by the centre passage way attached at the top of the seat, to become detached.
