Fifth wheel and rear suspension mountings could be compromised: there have been instances where the M20 screws securing the spring brackets for the driven and tag axles, and fifth wheel brackets have not been tightened to the correct torque. This could lead to the loss of the trailer or loss of directional control.
RecallsThe brake actuator clamping bands on the front axle may be weakened through fouling the shock absorber top mounting when the steering is on full lock and the brake pads are worn. In time, the clamping ring may fail and the braking effort at the front axle will be lost resulting in much longer stopping distances. Replace the top shock absorber brackets of the front axle and, if there has been any signs of fouling, fit new actuator clamping rings.
RecallsIncorrectly fitted panhard rod mounting bolts may fail and lead to the rear axle developing lateral movement. Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to fit new panhard rod mounting bolts to the correct torque.
