FridgeXpress has expanded its light commercial vehicle (LCV) hire fleet by taking delivery of 40 new IVECO Daily 3.5-tonne refrigerated vans.

They are said to be the first IVECOs to be added to the 680-strong FridgeXpress rental fleet and were supplied by Guest Trucks in Coventry.

Converted by Polar Truck & Van, each Daily is equipped with a roof-mounted GAH refrigeration unit, which can transform the van’s interior temperature between -20 and +20 degrees to provide the capability to transport both frozen and chilled food.

The van also includes thermal curtains across the rear and side door apertures and a blue grit finish floor, while a Transcan temperature recorder and Hope Safe T bar rear bumper completes the specification.

Craig Diaz, operations director, FridgeXpress, said FridgeXpress opted for the long wheelbase 4100mm Daily van which boasts a maximum payload of 840kg which is competitive for a converted 3.5-tonne LCV of this size.

“Payload is important for a customer when delivering frozen food and even in long wheelbase the Daily’s payload works for our customers. The Daily has received some good driver feedback. It’s comfortable and easy to drive while its 24,000-mile service intervals make it cost effective to run from an operational perspective,” he added.

Typically, FridgeXpress runs its vans for five years and 125,000 miles, with all servicing and maintenance managed by technicians at its Rugby head office.
