This year’s conference on 18 March at the Coventry Building Society Arena will welcome 1,200 industry professionals and is hosted by BBC technology reporter Kate Russell, with the prestigious Driver of the Year Awards taking place the night before.
The Microlise Transport Conference always shines the spotlight firmly on the emerging trends and issues in the industry. This year will be no different, with the agenda encompassing AI in transport and logistics, cyber security, building a sustainable transport ecosystem and other pertinent topics.
Featuring, will be 40 industry thought leaders and subject matter experts, who will share their specialist knowledge and insights via presentations and workshops, including three in a skills workshop run by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE).
Among those delivering workshops will be Emma Thompson, executive director at the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE), who will guide delegates through a comprehensive skills map that leaders can use to gauge current competencies, identify skills gaps and shape upskilling programmes to unlock untapped potential within organisations.
She will be followed by Richard Belton, quality director at the S&B Automotive Academy and chair of the irtec steering group, who will focus on technicians, as he takes attendees through irtec competencies and what it means to run an organisation with irtec-qualified technicians.
Finally, IRTE chairman Nick Elliott will take a deep dive into the new maintenance provision rating scheme (MPRS) being rolled out this spring, which will aim to reform current best practices and is the next generation of compliance in commercial vehicle workshop accreditation.
The exhibition will feature around 50 exhibitors, including Volvo Trucks, CoPilot, LMP Legal, RTITB Instructor Academy, Ortec and the RHA. For more information about the conference, see our preview on page 30.
