Fleet Compliance & Driver Development Officer

Post Number OPWP4004

37 Hours per week

Grade 6: £22,462 to £25,295 per year (plus 10% recruitment supplement subject to annual review)

Ensuring compliance with legislation is at the heart of our vehicle and fleet operations. The Fleet Compliance and Driver Development Officer is instrumental to this and in order to succeed in this role you will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the legislation and processes relevant to Road Transport Law, Health & Safety in the Workplace, Drivers Hours Rules, Tachographs etc.

You will also need CPC (Road Transport Operations), or exemption certificate, or demonstrable experience in road transport operation. Experience of undertaking investigations into accidents, vehicle misuse and damage, and follow up enforcement is essential.

Whilst you will be expected to carry out monitoring of vehicle users to ensure compliance with policies and legislation, this is only part of the role; the training and development of our drivers is fundamental to our ongoing compliance and you will be expected to deliver training on both a one to one basis and in a formal classroom setting.

Working with the Senior Fleet Compliance & Driver Development Officer and the Nominated Transport Manager, you will also play a key part in developing training programs, audit plans and policy.

You will possess a high level of tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issues with the ability to influence the behaviour of others by modelling expected behaviours and values and through use of effective persuasion and influencing skills.
