Bus operator Blackpool Transport has taken delivery of 20 Enviro400 City buses, from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), as part of the local authority’s £18m long-term plan to modernise rail and bus operations at the seaside resort.
The new additions join 35 other Enviro400 City buses already in the fleet.
They will be used on a 19-week rail replacement contract, before joining the Palladium fleet once the project is complete.
Blackpool Transport aims to have the 140-strong bus fleet renewed by the end of 2019.
The buses feature ADL’s Quick Release Glazing system, wood effect flooring, e-leather seats, free Wi-Fi, USB charging points, next-stop audio and visual announcements, mobile phone holders, on-board infotainment screens and tables on the upper deck.
James Carney, financial and commercial director at Blackpool Transport, says: “We have again worked closely with the team at ADL to push the boundaries of bus technology.”
