The first 10 Enviro400 City vehicles – built to Blackpool Transport’s own specification – have been in service since July, which saw the culmination of a relationship with ADL arising out of the Bus and Coach Live show at the NEC in 2015.
The latest order fulfils Blackpool Transport managing director Jane Cole’s commitment to add the extra ADL buses if the first vehicles were operationally successful.
“The vehicles deliver a great customer experience with features such as Wi-Fi, USB charging points, audio and visual next stop customer announcements, e-leather seating and wood effect flooring,” comments Bob Mason, service delivery director at Blackpool Transport.
“We are also getting very good mpg from these buses,” he adds.
Says Cole: “We wanted to do more than buy a bus. We wanted a partner willing to become intrinsically linked to us … a partner that understands … the task of providing tailor-made public transport.”
