Aggregate Industries goes all out for lightweight tipping gear

Tipping Gear
Building and construction materials supplier Aggregate Industries says it will specify Edbro CX14 cylinders for all rigid tippers this year, due to the equipment's reliability.
The Coalville-based company's decision was prompted by the launch of the second-generation CX14 – already the lightest 8x4 tipping gear on the market, but now 28kg lighter without compromising on tipping speed, lift capacity or, according to the manufacturer, reliability. The CX14's combined ram and tank design means it now weighs 449kg, including oil, effectively enabling more load capacity. "We run a franchised fleet and pay the haulier a given amount per load. The more they can carry, the less CO2 it is for us and the more earnings for our franchisee," comments Jeff Stobbart, national logistics manager for Aggregate Industries. "As well as giving us the lightest cylinder the extra payload, the CX14 still has the reliability and the rigidity of the heavier gear that we used to specify."
