Alwin picks up fuel performance with New XFs

Tractor Units
West Midlands-based Alwin has taken delivery of two more DAF vehicles, to meet growing demand for its move into temperature-controlled distribution.

The latest vehicles to join the 26-strong fleet are two high-spec New XF 530 FTS tractors. Both have double-mounted trailing axles, a Traxon automated box, all-round air suspension, leather trimmed cabs with microwaves, lower spoilers and side-skirts.

Established as a non-ferrous metals recycling business almost 50 years ago, Alwin’s latest venture into distribution is paying off and, says managing director David Rowlingson, the DAF trucks are delivering on fuel performance and driver appeal.

They join several year-old XFs, as well as a couple of other marques.

“We were delighted with our XF additions last year, bur these New XFs are already better on fuel, and in our new long- distance operations that makes a huge difference for us,” says Rowlingson.

“We’re already recording 7.2% improvements and, as they bed in, it should only get better.”

The new additions were supplied by The Thomas’s Group, in Birmingham, while service and support for the fleet is provided by Imperial Commercials, of Halesowen.
