The vehicles will join London-based Anderson Travel’s fleet in spring 2017 and are based on Scania K 410 EB4x2 chassis with 13-litre, 410bhp Euro 6 engine and fully automated Opticruise gear selection.
All vehicles are built to Scania’s Finesse specification, with exclusive range seating with real leather and three-point seatbelts.
Anderson Travel director Mark Anderson says: “After 30 years’ buying coaches, you tend not to get that excited when another new type enters the market. However, the first time I saw the new Scania Interlink I have to say even I, along with a number of my ‘hard nosed’, tough-to-impress employees, said ‘wow’.”
A demonstrator vehicle was put through its paces, says Anderson (pictured with Scania’s Ricard Lawrie), adding: “We loved it, so much so that after a couple of meetings we have now ordered 10 of them.”
Other Scania order announcements include another first – this time with Perthshire-based operator Earnside Coaches taking its first new Scania Irizar, after positive experience with pre-owned Scanias for several years.
The large 13-litre engine in the Irizar i6 was a particular draw, says Earnside’s director David Rutherford. The new addition is a 12.2m, 49-seater based on Scania’s 420bhp K 410 EB 4x2 chassis, with eight-speed Opticruise gear selection system.
A bespoke spec includes i6+ passenger seats with extra padding, all-age three-point seatbelts and seat back tables.
And Nottingham-based Skills Coaches has acquired six Finesse Limited Edition Scania OmniExpress Coaches for both its own and Silverdale Tours fleets.
Five of the coaches are 12.8m, 53-seaters; the other is a 14.1m tri-axle with 63 seats.
All have half leather seats, three-point seatbelts, centre sunken toilet, drinks machine, DVD player and two monitors and satellite navigation systems.
