The vehicles will be based on Scania’s K 250 UB4x2 chassis and have been specified with the Scania DC09 111 250bhp Euro 6 engine, which uses EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) after-treatment technology.
The Irizar i3 12.05-metre bodywork will be fitted with 41 Lazzerini seats, and will have USB chargers, white destination signs and custom interiors design to Reading’s specification.
“We are delighted to announce an order confirmation for these six vehicles, which reinforces our commitment to the Scania product range,” said Reading Bus chief executive officer, Martijn Gilbert.
The announcement capped off a successful Euro Bus Expo for Scania and Irizar, he says.
Other orders confirmed at the event included: Johnsons Coaches, for five Scania Interlink coaches; Attain Travel, for a new Scania Interlink HD to the upgraded Finesse specification; Bullocks Coaches, for a Scania Touring HD based on a K 410 EB6x2*4 tri-axle rear-steer chassis; Barry’s Coaches, for another Scania Irizar i6 coach based on the Scania K 410 6x2*4 chassis; Astons Coaches, for a Scania Interlink tri-axle rear steer coach, again equipped to Finesse specification; and Greenline Coach Holidays, for a new Scania Interlink HD Finesse.
