The new assets join Alcaline’s fleet of 150 trailers – 95% of which are by Schmitz Cargobull – and they will be used to transport automotive parts between the UK, France and Italy, and steel coils and large metal parts between the UK and the Benelux countries.
The trailers feature Ferroplast box panels, making them easier to repair and replace than traditional GRP. The trailers also run on Schmitz Cargobull’s Rotos running gear, offering longer service life.
“We know from experience that Schmitz Cargobull trailers give us far more flexibility in terms of payload, and we can rely on them for support wherever we are in Europe,” says Lorenzo Zaccheo, managing director of Kent-based Alcaline.
“It’s easy for us to get replacement parts – although with the build quality we don’t expect to have do this very often – and we know Schmitz Cargobull will look after us long after the original sale.”
