Bulk haulage operator G Webb is specifying Edbro CX14 tipping gear, from Jost Group, to maximise payload from new Euro 6 trucks, after successful trials on existing vehicles.
The Longstanton-based business decided to move away from underfloor tipping gear to front-end tipping cylinders to reduce weight, as general manager Neil McMurdo explains: "Prior to the Euro 6 standards being introduced, we wanted to shed the weight on our vehicles so we could keep them under 12 tonnes when the new engines and exhaust systems were specified."
After speaking to other operators, he decided on the Edbro CX14. "This was the first time that we have moved away from underfloor tipping gear and I have been very pleased with the results," he says.
"We specified the CX14 cylinder on two new vehicles and managed to keep the weight below 11,750kg compared to our usual weight, which hovers close to 12 tonnes."
G Webb has now specified the CX14 for its first two Euro 6 vehicles, from MAN.
