Cappagh cements move to Scania with eight-wheeler

Construction operator Cappagh has reinforced its commitment to Scania with the addition of 19 P 360 CB 8x4 MHZ eight-wheelers, and a double-drive R 480 CA 6x4 MNA Topline tractor unit to its fleet.
Supplied by Scania Great Britain's Heathrow branch, these vehicles join 30 other Scania trucks that have entered service over the past 18 months. The tippers have all been fitted with 15m3 Boweld Mightylite bodies, and are stationed at Cappagh's operating bases in Wimbledon, Heathrow and Iver, Bucks. They have also been equipped with Sidescan sensors, side under-run protection systems and reversing cameras to provide additional protection for cyclists and other road users. "Lower cost of operation and improved fuel consumption were the two key reasons behind our initial decision to move to Scania," states Cappagh transport manager Conor Ferncombe. "Since its introduction into our fleet, the marque has been proving itself by delivering excellent fuel returns – which is the reason we are now continuing to re-fleet with Scania," he continues. "An additional advantage to us is image. Not only do our Scania trucks look good on the road, but they also impress our customers." The tippers are now providing muckaway services and delivering recycled aggregates around the M25.
