Cartwright launches re-engineered and extended vehicle range

Cartwright launched four innovations at last week’s CV Show (14—16 April 2015, NEC, Birmingham) under the tutelage of technical director Lionel Curtis (ex of Gray & Adams).

Moving into the 3.5 tonne market, the bodybuilder majored on a refrigerated, highly configurable home delivery concept vehicle and a construction site welfare vehicle. Then, in its heartland, Cartwright introduced a refrigerated trailer range and the Acclaro fleet specification curtainsider.

The home delivery concept vehicle is based on a Mercedes Sprinter with Al-Ko Kober lightweight low chassis plus an aerodynamic Cartwright lightweight body, based on ultra-thin insulated panels.

Curtis explained that the vehicle is highly configurable, with a walk-on bus-style articulating side door, externally accessed shutter racking and a rear ramp door for loading bay compatibility.

As for the welfare vehicle, this is designed for the construction sector, and is capable of carrying six or seven crew plus the driver (al with three point seat belts), and offering a built-in toilet cubicle and field kitchen, with full wash-down capability.

The CV Show example was built on a Ford Transit chassis but Curtis says it can be built on any medium/long wheelbase van, and is currently going through type approval.

Moving on to its new trailers, the Acclaro single-deck curtainsider has been re-engineered from the ground up with clever design features and a new specification. These include an EN1264XL rated body, aerodynamic front aerofoil and sloping roof, as well as an IS0 1469-1 certified floor, versatile load strapping and ZMA corrosion-resistant pre-finish with maximum salt resistance rating.

Then Cartwright's new refrigerated semi-trailer range, which will be available in single/multi temp and single/double deck configurations, maxes out as a 44-pallet unit with compressor buffer options. It has aerodynamic cappings, and Curtis says it is Cartwright's lightest fridge vehicle ever, at 8,400 kg.
