The two low-profile tyres effectively reduce the fifth wheel height of the towing vehicle, enabling operators to make best use of the 3m internal load height in trailers, without exceeding the 4m overall limit imposed in most European countries.
Both are designed for long-distance use and regional transportation with frequent use of motorway, and offer long service life with high fuel efficiency.
The steer axle model has a load capacity of 8 tonnes; the drive axle version offers up to 11.6 tonnes in twin fitment.
Continental says a new rubber compound was developed for its latest steer axle tyre. With a two-layer construction – called the cap base concept – the tread cap ensures optimum contact with the road surface, while the tread base reduces heat generated in the crown for low rolling resistance.
Both the steer and drive axle products use a retreadable carcass, incorporating the patented AirKeep inner liner to maintain inflation pressure.
