DAF XF and CF still prime movers for Churchill

Chichester-based Churchill Freight Services has taken delivery of 15 DAF trucks, as part of its ongoing growth programme.
The operator's new trucks include three FAS CF75 curtainsiders and a dozen range-topping FTP XF105s. The trio of CF75s are powered by the 310bhp Paccar Euro-5 PR engine, which has been engineered to deliver good performance at low operating cost. The 460bhp XF105s, meanwhile, will be used on bulk tipper operations, moving grain from farms to millers, feed mills and an export facility in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. "Over the past 14 years we have built up a good relationship with Adams Morey, Portsmouth, who have always endeavoured to give us the best possible service," states Mark Sayers, MD at Churchill Freight. "So when the time came to renew our fleet, we didn't hesitate to contact them," he continues. "Another key factor with all our purchases is whole-life cost. "We have always found DAF to be extremely competitive on price, and in our experience the back-up service and residual values are also major factors in purchasing DAF again." Sayers also points to driver comfort, giving this as the reason for Churchill Freight's specification of Space cabs on all the new vehicles. Each XF features double bunk beds, a fridge and air-conditioning, with hands-free mobile phone connectivity to ensure that drivers stay connected without any distraction from driving. Churchill's latest acquisitions are expected to cover some 100,000km per year, and were all purchased through Paccar Financial.
