DB Cummins first Jersey operator to have commercial test lane

Workshop
Demolition and groundworks contractor DB Cummins has become the first operator in Jersey to have a commercial vehicle test lane installed at its workshop.

The project was managed by Liftmaster; the equipment includes a computer-controlled commercial brake tester and an inspection pit.

The test lane features a 13-metre pre-fabricated pit and cassette for the brake tester. Commercial play detectors, with a 20-tonne axle load to test for suspension wear, are fitted each side of the pit with a hydraulic control unit in a side recess.

Aluminium sliding platforms on the pit allow the chassis area of a vehicle to be inspected by technicians, and a 20-tonne, air-operated jacking beam completes the underside of the inspection equipment.

A headlamp beam tester is installed at the end of the lane.
