Denholm steeled for increased versatility with coil liner trailers

Trailers
Haulage firm Denholm Transport has taken delivery of two bespoke coil liner trailers, supplied by TIP Trailer Services.

Built by Krone in Germany, the 13.6m trailers offer increased versatility to Denholm – as a standard tautliner, they can carry conventional forest products or pallets, but they also incorporate a 7m-long well with removable floor sections to enable the transport of steel coil.

The move was prompted by the increase of both general distribution and steel traffic through the Port of Liverpool, says the company, and the new additions are operating from its Liverpool depot.

"The new trailers from TIP give us complete flexibility of operation," says John Lucy, Denholm's UK distribution manager. "They can be loaded with steel coil on the outward journey and return with general freight, or vice versa."

The trailers have a sliding roof so that steel coils of up to 2.1m diameter can be lowered into position.

They have been acquired on a five-year deal with TIP, which includes full maintenance, and each one is expected to cover 100,000 miles a year.
