Dunmow Waste Management extends fleet with seven Volvo FL rigids

Rigids
Chelmsford-based Dunmow Waste Management has taken delivery of seven Volvo FL 18-tonne rigids, fitted with Hyva skiploader bodies, citing build quality as a key reason for the vehicles’ selection.

“We want to extend vehicle retention periods and that’s our reason for buying Volvo trucks. They are a robust, reliable brand that is built to last,” says Sam Malins, Dunmow’s managing director.

Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, the new additions are powered by Volvo’s D8K engine producing 247bhp through nine-speed manual gearboxes.

The Hyvalift NG2012XL skiploader bodywork gives a lifting capacity of between 5.4 and 12 tonnes, along with remote control operation, automatic sheeting systems and telescopic extending arms.

The vehicle spec includes safety features such as additional passenger door glazing, a Cycle Minder system and Traffic Angel camera system.

The FLs are also specified with Volvo Gold R&M contracts and Dynafleet telematics.
