Adversity can bring out the best in people and companies – as two South East firms proved during the recent weather, when a fuel tanker got stuck in the snow.
The tanker was one of Sprint Fuels' Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which has ground to a halt on a hill as it was making deliveries.
Sprint managing director Henry Drake called the RAMSAK (Ring of Agricultural Machinery in Sussex and Kent) co-operative of farmers and landowners, which shares resources, including machinery and skilled labour.
"I can't sing enough praise for Sprint Fuels," says RAMSAK manager Angus Campbell. "Henry moved heaven and earth to get fuel out to our members so we were thrilled to be able to come to his aid. It was a real team effort – good for the soul!"
At the time RAMSAK members were on 24-hour call out, helping each other clear snow, so one member turned up with a winch to help shift the stricken tanker, and get Sprint Fuels on its way again through the snow.
"It kind of sums up the ethos of both businesses," comments Drake. "We really had to pull together to get fuel to people in such treacherous conditions. It's all about working together for the customer."
