First hookloader commissioned for Cox’s trucks

Cox Skips has added a Hyva hookoader to its fleet of 45 trucks – the first for this Crawley, West Sussex-based firm.
"After some difficulties with our existing hookloaders, we really thought it was time to try something new," explains Dave Cartlidge, Cox's transport and fleet manager. As with almost any type of truck, reliability is the number one issue. And with hookloaders, Hyva claims to offer an advantage in that its equipment is pneumatic, rather than electric. "When looked at in the long term, the Hyva system seems a much better bet," continues Cartlidge. "Hookloaders really do work at the arduous end of our industry, where vibration, loading shocks and exposure to extremes of weather all play a significant part in operating reliably." Mounted on a DAF CF 8x4 chassis, the Hyva's hookloader bodywork also affords Cox Skips a slight payload advantage over its other three hookloader vehicles. Fitted with heavy-duty hub reduction axles, the new truck operates in both solo and drawbar configurations up to the 44 tonnes gtw, and on every type of road surface, from highways to building sites and landfill sites.
