If proof were needed that the skills shortage is uppermost in operators’ minds, the Freight Transport Association has announced that its Driver Crisis Summit (12 March at the Ricoh Stadium, Coventry) is oversubscribed, with a waiting list for places.
More than 600 delegates have already registered to attend the event, which brings together government officials, operators and HR advisors to debate the extent of the problem and the potential solutions.
Subjects to be covered include attracting and retaining drivers, broadening the appeal of driving as a career and government perceptions of professional driving.
