Fuso Canter is the automatic choice for Pollard & Co

Building and contracting firm Pollard & Co has taken delivery of two Fuso Canter 3C13 trucks with Duonic fully-automated dual-clutch transmissions.
Supplied by dealer Orwell Truck & Van, the 3.5-tonne vehicles are replacements for two older Canters, but this is the first time the Bury St Edmunds-based business has specified the automated gearbox. Company owner Trevor Pollard says his drivers were "dead against it" at first. "They do a bit of shunting and were concerned that, unlike the manuals they were used to, it would not give them the fine control they need when towing and tipping." However, Orwell Truck & Van supplied a demonstrator for them to try, says Pollard. "Both were very quickly won over – they love the transmission now." The additions have 130bhp engines and alloy tipping bodies, by Priden Engineering of Wisbech, and were supplied with funding from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
