Heat exchange specialist Grayson Thermal Systems has recruited more service engineers and doubled the size of its van fleet which looks after bus and coach servicing.
Service centre manager Steve Robinson says that bus operators can make large savings by getting their cooling systems serviced during the autumn and winter months.
He makes the point that they can be spared more easily and adds that the price of refrigerant gases and associated products is expected to rise sharply around next Easter.
"Refrigerants and other products now rise steeply in price every spring, which means that planning ahead will give operators big savings," states Robinson.
"Doing this and carrying out some basic checks will keep maintenance costs down and vehicle systems operating properly through next year's summer season," he adds.
Grayson says that one of the most frequent reasons for its emergency call-outs this summer has been blower motor failure.
"A regular, 10 minute filter clean could avert premature failure in most cases, avoiding a potential roadside breakdown," he advises.
