Hannah Foods weighs in with order for Isuzu Forwards

Hannah Foods has taken delivery of five 7.5-tonne Isuzu Forward trucks, citing improved payload as the clincher for the deal.

Supplied by Liverpool dealer Ditchburn Truck Services, the Skelmersdale-based operator’s new additions are all Forward N75.190 rigids and provide up to 700kg more load capacity than the other 7.5-tonners in its fleet.

The trucks have multi-compartment Solomon refrigerated bodies with movable bulkheads, with refrigeration provided by Carrier Transicold’s Supra MT refrigeration systems.

“Payload is absolutely critical to our daily operation and to get almost 700kg extra load per truck makes us far more efficient in our daily delivery schedules,” says Gary Hannah, director of Hannah Foods.

“Prior to specifying the new Isuzu trucks we had operated three second-hand Isuzus for over a year,” he explains.

“It was the performance and payload advantages of these vehicles that highlighted the benefits that could be achieved by adding more Isuzus to our fleet.”

The vehicles also have the TransScan 2 data logging system, from Seven Telematics, to enable the operator to record delivery temperature points for its school contracts.

Hannah’s 19-strong fleet ranges from 3.5-tonne vans through to artics and trailer combinations, with all vehicles specified for multi-temperature distribution. It expects the Forwards to cover at least 80,000km each per annum and to be in service for four years, at which time the operator plans to replace the chassis to give each vehicle a double life.
