Hiab and Nugent launch compact crane trailer

Hiab has partnered with trailer manufacturer Nugent to launch a small trailer-mounted crane, suitable for lighter lifting jobs.

The companies describe the crane trailer as “a versatile, easy to handle, back-saving” product.

The crane is a standard Hiab T-CLX 018 crane, but with the shortest legs possible, and has a lift capacity of 1.8t/m. Featuring its own power source – two 12V deep cycle batteries – the crane can be operated independently of the towing vehicle.

The fully electric crane is emission free and quiet to operate. It also has a solar-powered trickle charger, so it can be recharged while in transit.

It sits on a Nugent F3720H 3.5 tonne flatbed trailer, with Nugent’s patented Dual Drive suspension, which is said to reduces vibrations and so minimise stress to the chassis.

The trailer also has spring-loaded flip latches on all dropsides to prevent undue movement and noise.

“The manual handling regs state that a single person should not manually lift or handle a load that exceeds between 3kg and 25kg. With a lift capacity of 1.8t/m, our new crane trailer can do the lifting of half a dozen people in one go,” says Alastair Evans, Hiab’s sales product manager for UK & Ireland.

“The beauty of the new crane trailer is that it can reduce manpower and speed up small jobs.”
