The road transport industry did itself proud at April's Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, according to IRTE Services, one of the three organising partners.
Details released this week (23 April 2013) show that, across the three days, the event attracted more than 18,000 people and 430 exhibitors – indicating an increase in attendance of 11.6% on the 2012 show. IRTE Services, the trading arm of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers) is a founding partner of the CV Show, and chief executive Nick Jones says: "This year's CV Show radiated energy and enthusiasm. With bookings up on 2012, our industry is contributing to economic growth through efficient and sustainable processes." And he adds: "As a founding partner of the CV Show, IRTE also welcomes the fact that exhibitors are now placing as much emphasis on the skills of engineering professionals as they do on products and services." A key element of the CV Show was the launch of the IRTE's irtec Master Technician licence, the latest addition to the technician accreditation scheme. Aimed at the top technicians in road transport, the new licence level has a focus on high-level technical skills and communication, with a view to growing the managers of the future. "Once again the CV Show has proven itself to be of value to an industry that is working tirelessly to rebuild, develop and innovate," continues Jones. The Commercial Vehicle Show is owned by the CV Show LLP comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and IRTE Services, the trading company of SOE.
