Iveco has announced a package of improvements for its Stralis truck which, it says, will reduce total operating costs for hauliers.
Called the Efficiency Package, the measures include features to reduce fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs and to deliver more product choice.
For fuel consumption, the manufacturer is now offering Eco-Roll with automatic transmissions, better thermal management of the engine and the use of low-viscosity oil – enhancements which can, says Iveco, cut fuel bills by 2%.
When travelling downhill, Eco-Roll evaluates the terrain and puts the vehicle into neutral, re-engaging the optimal gear at the end of the slope.
Stralis trucks with Cursor 11 and 13 engines will now feature a new synthetic lubricant for improvement thermal management of engine oil.
Driver Style Evaluation – an on-board driver improvement aid – is now available on 4x2 and 6x2 cab vehicles, in addition to the tractors. It is offered with Driver Attention Support, to monitor steering wheel movements and alert the driver with audible and visual signals, should the data detect signs of drowsiness.
On maintenance costs, the replacement interval for the diesel particulate filter has been extended from 450,000 to 600,000km for Cursor 11 and 13 engines.
The range is also extended with the option of a 260-litre rear fuel tank for 4x2 and 6x2 tractors, giving eight additional configurations.
