Timber haulage firm Les Hughes & Son has added a Renault Kerax 460 6x4 rigid drawbar combination to its 10-strong, predominantly Renault truck fleet.
Delivered through Renault Trucks distributor Border Trucks, it is the first rigid drawbar Renault Kerax for forestry use in the UK, and features a specialist aluminium Alumax body and lightweight 8m Epsilon crane.
"We have been steadily replacing our fleet with Renault trucks since purchasing our first Landers four years ago," says Tony Hughes, director, Les Hughes & Son.
"We have been pleased with the Landers but opted for a Kerax as our latest purchase, due to its excellent pulling power and increased ground clearance over tough forest terrain," he explains.
Commenting on the truck's specialist body, Hughes continues: "Despite the Kerax being a heavier truck, we have worked with Renault Trucks to achieve the 26.2 tonne payload of the Landers by fitting a lighter weight body and crane.
"We are very pleased with the result. It is an impressive piece of kit. "
