The Lancashire factory builds 15,000 DAF trucks each year to individual specs, for customers around the world including Europe, central America, Asia and Australia.
In the last five years, Leyland has increased production by 30% at the site, thanks to a sharp focus on supply chain efficiency – also cutting lead times and boosting quality standards.
The Best Factory Awards are run by Cranfield School of Management. Judges said of Leyland: “The site works holistically alongside suppliers to improve products and raise quality standards. They go the extra mile to pick the right partners who operate to an impressive 50 parts per million failure rate.”
The tour is staged by Works Management magazine and takes place on Thursday 28 April. Tickets cost £350 (plus VAT), or £315 for bookings of three people or more.
