Despite the mirky conditions, the on-track action was red-hot, with the imposing five-tonne trucks utilising the mighty 1,000bhp engines by screeching tyres around Paddock Hill Bend, bounding up Pilgrim’s Rise before hitting the brakes at Druids.
During three races, the Maha UK contingent enjoyed the hospitality of the Jenkins Development Motorsport and Bowler Racing teams, both prominent partners of the workshop equipment supplier.
Dave Jenkins and John Bowler, both competing in division one of the British Truck Racing Championship, welcomed Clare and Adrian to their paddocks. There, they showed them the inner workings of their trucks, allowed them to sit in the cockpit to get a first-hand view of what life is like behind the wheel of a racing truck, and treated them to signed merchandise and photos – ensuring the guests enjoyed a memorable experience.
Following the event, Clare said: “What an amazing day! I’d like to thank Maha for the opportunity to meet Dave, John and teams in their garages. Being able to see their trucks up close and sit in the cockpit will be experiences that will stay with me. Memorable experiences – I’m looking forward to entering next year’s competition!”
Maha’s Louis Tunmore added: “It was a pleasure to accompany Clare and Adrian at Brands Hatch. It was obvious that they were motorsport fans and had attended races before, as they were excited to meet the teams, they asked the drivers lots of questions and embraced the on-track action. This is the main reason we invest in motorsport: it shows our customers a different side to Maha, plus it is great fun!”
Fans should look out for similar opportunities next season, as Maha UK continues to bring motorsport closer to its customers. As for the two teams, Jenkins Development Motorsport claimed runners-up in the final standings, while Bowler Racing just missed out on a top three finish; however, attention has already turned to 2025 and, hopefully, a push up the table.
