The vehicles were ordered to enable compliance with clean air zones, although the introduction date for the Manchester CAZ is yet to be confirmed.
“MV Commercial designed us a compliant truck that performed exceptionally when we tested a demonstration unit, so we’re confident our new assets will prove their full worth – both now as we go into our busy period, and in the future, too,” says Paul Kaye, general manager at iRescue 24.
The new trucks are equipped with 247bhp Euro VI diesel engines and 12-speed ZF TipMatic automated gearboxes. They also feature rear air suspension and have a 5,000kg capacity, 21ft-long steel slidebed body, which also has a 2,000kg capacity second car lift.
The standard MV Commercial spec also includes a 10,000lb hydraulic Super Winch, Bawer stainless steel lockers and a Hi-Pro hydraulic lever control block with auto-tilt facility.
Additionally, the trucks feature LED lights, Loadar remote controls for the winch, body slide and tilt operations, plus 12V and 24V jump sockets, a wrecker kit and side-winching capstan.
Kaye adds: “MV Commercial supplied a very high vehicle specification as standard, offering maximum versatility and competitive pricing.”
The trucks join a 50-strong fleet, which runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, recovering light vehicles in the Greater Manchester area.
