Marshalls has eye on £350,000 first-year fuel saving with Webfleet

Garden and building materials supplier Marshalls is anticipating a 5% reduction in fuel costs this year across its 200-strong fleet, after implementing Webfleet from TomTom Telematics.

The fuel saving – equating to around £350,000 – will come, says Marshalls, from better route planning and improvements in driver performance.

The operator is introducing a driver improvement programme, which will be underpinned by OptiDrive360, a key component of the Webfleet fleet management platform, along with a new driver training support team.

OptiDrive 360 provides real-time feedback and advice to improve driving performance.

Guy Ripley, regional logistics & fleet manager for Marshalls, says “notable improvements” are expected in mileage and mpg.

“Having invested in a number of telematics systems over recent years that have failed to meet our expectations, we turned to Webfleet which offers easy software integration opportunities, extensive levels of functionality and one of the most future-proofed platforms on the market,” he explains.

Marshalls has integrated Webfleet with its Reach scheduling system to optimise job planning, operation efficiency and productivity.

The company has also invested in the TomTom PRO 8275 driver terminal to digitise paper-based processes, and has plans to introduce electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) and defect reporting.
