The manufacturer says its own research, carried out earlier this summer, shows two-thirds of van buyers want to use telematics to monitor driving standards.
Now, fleet managers can see data for each vehicle trip as well as an overall fleet view with the PRO Connect solution. Data points include acceleration behaviour analysis, anticipatory driving behaviour, coasting and smooth driving analysis. In addition, other safety-related data such as harsh cornering and braking warnings are displayed instantly to the fleet manager.
Mark Cartwright, head of vans at the Freight Transport Association, welcomed the announcement, saying: “By offering the solution free of charge, it shows how dedicated the team at Mercedes-Benz Vans is to safety, efficiency and innovation – where they lead, we hope others will follow.”
