MWheels launches CV wheel training course

MWheels has announced a new training course on commercial vehicle wheel security, which will provide “the most comprehensive wheel education skills in the UK” according to industry instructor Phil Thirsk (pictured).

The course, entitled Wheel Awareness and Security Fleet Training, has been approved for CPD points by the Society of Operations Engineers.

It includes a full overview of both aluminium and steel CV wheel design and construction, plus fitting and general maintenance and an in-depth understanding of axles, nuts and threads as direct core components. It concludes with a 25-question knowledge test.

Aimed at both vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket operators, it is designed primarily for tyre technicians, depot staff, vehicle technicians, workshop supervisors and commercial vehicle drivers. Business owners and board directors are also encouraged to attend.

Matt Mardle, CEO for MWheels, describes it as “the next logical step” in the company’s wheel safety campaign, adding that securing the services of trainer Phil Thirsk has been “a real coup for the business”.

SOE chief operating officer Daniel Moir says: “We are delighted to approve the CPD for this important training course.

“SOE is a professional engineering institution which works to improve safety standards and establish best practice in the road transport sector, so we are thrilled to be involved in a programme that has the same objectives.”
