A new smartphone app to help drivers with daily walk-around checks promises to simplify defect reporting, particularly for small and medium-sized fleets.
CheckApp sends notification of each driver's mandatory walk-arounds to a central web page, explains company founder Stephen Nelson.
The transport office can log in to see the time and location of each check, he says. Real-time defect reports allow problems to be identified and resolved quickly.
All historical checks are stored centrally, as well as on the smartphone.
The key benefit of CheckApp, says Nelson, is that this is a fully supported solution without the need for investment in complex IT.
"This makes it attractive to small and medium-sized hauliers, who don't have an in-house IT team," he adds.
CheckApp's launch follows a successful trial with an unnamed Norfolk-based delivery company with a fleet of 14 vehicles.
To mark the launch, CheckApp is offering on a month's free trial.
