Supplied by dealer Orwell Truck & Van, the new additions are both 7.5-tonne Atego 816 models with ClassicSpace day cabs – one has an optional third seat, as Jarrold sends out a team of three for deliveries of larger items.
Each truck has a 5.1-litre engine producing 154bhp and is paired with six-speed PowerShift 3 automated transmissions. Box bodies are by Commercial Bodies, of Norwich.
The trucks are based at the Jarrold Group’s warehouse in Norwich and their purple livery features an image of the Jarrolds department store in the city.
One of the new Atego trucks has replaced a 7.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Vario which had been in service for more than 10 years. “That truck proved exceptionally reliable,” confirms Charlotte Field, Jarrold’s warehouse manager.
As well as build quality, she adds, equally important is dealer support, describing Orwell as “highly professional” for aftersales service.
