Plenty to see at CV Show, NEC, Birmingham next week

Sigmavision, which manufactures laser measurement systems for the tyre industry, will be launching a patent-protected product called TreadReader at the Commercial Vehicle Show, next week.
TreadReader is a laser tool for improving commercial tyre management – reducing fleet fuel, tyre and breakdown costs, cutting CO2 emissions and enhancing road safety. TreadReader replaces manual tyre inspection, using tread depth gauges, and is available as a hand-held scanner or automatic drive over ramp. The company says that TreadReader can scan an area of the tyre to reliably measure tread depth to better than 0.2mm accuracy and diagnose its wear condition. Potential benefits have been quantified in field trials for a fleet of 50 tractor units operating from an unnamed food retail distribution centre, according to a spokesperson. The technology used was developed from Sigmavision's experience of supplying laser systems to tyre manufacturers for online measurement of tyre components produced on calendaring and extrusion lines. Elswhere, truck lifting technology specialist Blitz Rotary will give visitors the opportunity to see this company's Duplex in-ground truck lift – with a set of four, 28.8-tonne wireless mobile column lifts and a 15-tonne twin ram air hydraulic pit jack.
