Abbey Logistics has taken delivery of a fleet of new Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors, supplied on five-year contract hire from Prohire.
The Actros 2446LS tractors are in operation on Abbey’s new bulk flour contract with Hovis, transporting flour from the bakery’s mill in Wellingborough to its sites across the UK.
The deal is the operator’s first with Prohire.
Paul Jamieson, Abbey Group’s head of finance, says: “Bulk road tanker logistics is a very specialist area and Prohire proved able not only to source the most appropriate vehicles, but also to understand our usage requirements and meet our specification in terms of features and benefits.”
The StreamSpace-cabbed tractors are FORS Silver compliant and include Gardner Denver high capacity blowers, for both dry and wet product operation.
