PT Hire turns to MAN for business growth

PT Hire, a provider of flexible truck rentals, has just placed a large order with MAN Truck & Bus UK for 205 New TGX 26.510 6x2 tractors and a further 75 used units.

The order, for 280 tractors in total, boosts the PT Hire fleet to over 700 vehicles and ensures the continuity of their flexible truck rental packages.

Stuart Dytham, CEO and company chairman, founded the Swadlincote, Derbyshire, based business in 2010. Today, he runs the business with his wife Ann and the help of both his daughter Becky and son Tim.

“Over the years we’ve offered our customers MAN Trucks simply because of the reliability and efficiencies they offer,” said Dytham.

“We offer a nationwide service to our customers and at all times we feel we have the focussed support of MAN and their commercial vehicle dedicated dealer network.”

The first five new vehicles arrived at the start of April and following preparation and PDI at MAN franchised partner DSV Commercials Ltd, Immingham, have already gone out to PT Hire customers.

The 205 new vehicles will all feature the TGX’s range topping GX cabs and will be powered by the efficient and MAN six-cylinder D26 503bhp 12.4 litre, Euro VI step E engines.

Stuart added; “It’s imperative that as a service provider we ensure that we supply vehicles to our customers that are both user-friendly and efficient. The first five vehicles went out to KJG Transport Ltd of Grimsby and although it’s early days the feedback we’ve had from their Managing Director, Kevin Gray, is very encouraging indeed.”

PT Hire’s New Generation MAN TGX’s feature a host of advanced safety systems: including Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Lane Guard System (LGS). Included in the specification is the Electronic Parking Brake, which applies automatically when the vehicle is parked, with the gearbox in neutral and the ignition key removed.

Furthermore all of PT Hire’s new vehicles feature Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) systems, all of which means they are suitably specified to ensure the driver has a safe and relaxing environment throughout the working week.

The order for 75 MAN TopUsed vehicles comprises of a mix of tractors, including late MY2019 454bhp and 493bhp models and New Generation 503bhp 26.510’s.

PT Hire’s fleet of over 700 MAN vehicles is made up of 7.5-ton TGL, 18-ton TGM and 26-ton TGS rigids, and 44-ton TGX tractor units.

The first of the 75 MAN TopUsed vehicles are currently with MAN Truck & Bus Gateshead undergoing preparation; once complete, these will join the PT Hire fleet offering.
