To help deal with the problems caused by ice, salt, rain, and storm damage, Thompsons has introduced the Patchmaster toad repairs system.
Designed for small- and medium-scale road repairs, Patchmaster is a self-contained 'hot box' able to carry up to 2.4 tonnes of asphalt, explains Simon Shields, director at Thompsons.
And with onboard gas cylinders to maintain a steady payload temperature, he claims that Patchmaster can deliver a whole day's worth of minor road repairs without the truck and its crew having to return to base, he says.
Shields also says that, with its gross design weight of 3.5 tonnes, it is ideal for hitching to a 7.5 tonne tipper, such as the DAF LF or Iveco Eurocargo, both of which have a gtw of 11,000kg.
"Patchmaster offers a practical, low-cost solution to a widespread problem that in the short and medium terms can only get worse," says Shields.
"At the moment, councils and businesses that have a statutory duty to maintain our roads in a safe and acceptable condition have little option but to engage high-cost maximum weight trucks even to carry out minor road repairs."
