Ease of operation, simple, rugged design and the 44,000kg carrying capacity were the key attributes that persuaded R&S Recovery to invest in its first Landoll travelling axle trailer from Roger Dyson Group.
The High Wycombe-based operator specialises in carrying out roadside repairs and recoveries of trucks of all sizes, as well as buses, coaches and vans.
At 48ft, the fully hydraulic platform on R&S's new unit is the longer of the two sizes offered by Roger Dyson. The trailer also features Haldex EBS electronically-braked 11,000kg SAF low-loader axles, and a 20,000lb hydraulic winch.
"We bought the Landoll because it represents a big step forward in terms of its recovery capabilities," explains Phil Leslie, manager at R&S Recovery. "We like the fact that it's uncomplicated, so there's not a lot to go wrong – as well as being simple to use by a single operative and very competitively priced.
R&S Recovery has also invested in its first Dyson Hydraloader super low approach (SLa) slidebed. Mounted on a 12-tonne MAN TGA crewcab chassis, the 5000SLa has a 5,000kg capacity steel deck and offers a load angle of just 4.9°.
Despite the fact that both units represent departures for R&S Recovery, the operator is a long-standing customer of Roger Dyson. The Landoll and Hydraloader SLa join a fleet that also includes two Dyson Commander underlifts, three Hydraloader La Low approach slidebeds and an MAN TGM accident unit.
