Safety top priority for JDP with latest order for Ryder

Rigids Cranes FORS
Civils and drainage product business JDP has taken delivery of nine DAF trucks, all specified with a range of safety enhancements including Atlas radio remote control cranes.

The latest additions to the Carlisle-based company’s 60-strong fleet – all supplied by Ryder – are seven DAF CF75.330 26-tonne dropsides and a pair of 18-tonne DAF LF55.220 dropsides, and are part of a £1.5m investment in transportation.

The cranes can switch between hook and brick grab operations to offer flexibility on site while offloading.

“Our drivers can operate around the vehicle when unloading, rather than being stuck in one place with a limited view,” says Jayne Bar, transport supervisor at the FORS Bronze operator.

“Our partnership with Ryder gives JDP an enormous advantage, especially with our built-in maintenance agreement.

“This assists with a FORS requirement for the maintenance programme to be scheduled at least 15 months ahead. Much of our vehicle maintenance takes place out of hours, which works really well for JDP as it limits the downtime of the vehicle.”

JDP is working towards the FORS Silver standard and all fleet additions meet this specification.
