ATEX is a European Union directive that governs equipment used in environments with flammable gases, vapours, or dust, aiming to reduce ignition risks. By using these lifts, Scania UK ensures compliance with these safety standards while improving its capacity to handle vehicles operating in high-risk environments.

These lifts are designed for vehicles involved in transporting petrochemicals, helping the workshop comply with safety standards for potentially explosive environments.

Each mobile column lift has a lifting capacity of 7,500kg and uses an electromechanical system to provide reliable performance in industrial applications.

“The addition of these ATEX-approved lifts has been a valuable upgrade to our workshop,” said Nigel Champion, project manager for Scania UK. “Their design and ease of use have improved our ability to service vehicles safely and effectively. Totalkare’s support during the installation process was excellent, ensuring everything was integrated smoothly.”

The lifts have been chosen to address the demands of maintaining vehicles used in the petrochemical sector. These vehicles often require specialised equipment to ensure that maintenance can be conducted safely and efficiently.

Brian Young, national accounts manager for Totalkare, said: “This collaboration allowed us to meet their specific operational needs and enhance their workshop’s capabilities. It’s always rewarding to see our solutions making a tangible difference in such critical environments.”
