The council's fleet technicians had previously been working with fixed lifts only but recognised the need for a more adaptable solution.
The addition of six ST1075FWA mobile columns - each capable of lifting 7.5 tonnes - gives the team even more flexibility when working across their varied fleet, including the heaviest vehicles on site.
One of the biggest benefits for the team is mobility. Unlike fixed systems, the columns can be repositioned quickly around different vehicles, freeing up space when needed and allowing the layout of the workshop to change as the workload demands. This flexibility helps reduce downtime and keeps the fleet moving.
The wireless design has made a real difference too. Setup is simple - no cables to connect, no trip hazards, and more time spent on maintenance instead of configuration. Each column is fitted with Stertil-Koni’s intuitive ebright Smart Control System, featuring a full-colour touchscreen that allows the engineers to operate the lifts individually, in pairs, or as a full set from any column.
Workshop safety has also improved thanks to the cable-free environment, and the intuitive interface gives engineers clear information at a glance, making each lift session more controlled and efficient.
Powering the columns are long-life deep cycle batteries, which typically last a full week of operation before needing to recharge. Because energy is only used when raising the vehicle - not when lowering - it’s a more efficient solution that supports uninterrupted workflows.
Supplied via Stertil-Koni distributor Fleet Factors, based in Broxburn, Edinburgh, the new equipment is already proving its worth - helping the Council’s technicians stay productive, safe, and ready for anything their fleet requires.
