Scotts builds fleet efficiency with two Volvo FMX tippers

Rigids Tippers
Evesham-based Scotts Plant & Haulage has put two new Volvo FMX tippers into service, citing vehicle build quality and dealer service as reasons for its choice.

Supplied by dealer Wales and West Truck and Bus Evesham, the two 8x4 Volvo chassis FMX-420s are equipped with day cabs, D13K engines rated at 414bhp and I-Shift automated manual transmission systems, and join a 15-strong fleet of rigid tippers.

The FMXs feature Boweld steel muckaway tipper bodies, powered by Edbro hydraulics. Scotts also specified PM onboard weighing systems, air-operated tipper tailgates and electric sheeting systems.

The vehicles are supplied with a six-year Volvo Gold R&M contract, which guarantees uptime.

“Our tippers do a bit of everything from muckaway to aggregate works.Road planings, recycled materials and topsoil are also carried regularly,” says Scott Witheford, director at Scotts Plant & Haulage.

He adds: “Volvo builds a good, reliable all round truck. Our FM and FMX models are popular with the drivers, who also rate the I-Shift automated manual transmission systems highly.”
