Gist has taken delivery of a cool 16 new DAF XF105 tractor units to support the company's refrigeration network in Scotland.
The firm, which purchased the vehicles through local dealer Taunton DAF, has added the tractors to its existing fleet of more than 1,500 powered vehicles that operate throughout the UK and Europe daily.
All of the tractor units feature the 460bhp 12.9-litre Paccar Euro 5 engine, mated to DAF's 12-speed AS-Tronic automated gearbox. And each has been fitted with DAF's 6x2 twin-steer wheel arrangement, for manoeuvrability when delivering goods to areas and warehouses with limited access.
Sam de Beaux, engineering director at Gist, observes that, with the ability to achieve 150,000km between service intervals, this powertrain boasts exceptional performance at a very low operating cost.
"Our trust in DAF products is extremely strong, and trucks such as the XF105 provide our drivers with a comfortable but business-like space from which to work," states de Beaux.
To ensure the utmost driver comfort for longer European journeys, Gist has specified each vehicle with Super Space cabs – the option that increases cab height by 370mm and provides room for bunk beds.
